How to Use Windows XP: Mapping your home directory in unix server to Window XP

Preparation

In order to map your network partition (your unix home directory) to your WindowXP desktop you must know your samba username and samba password. If you don't have the username and the password, please email ecehelp to register a samba account.

• Communication group samba/printer server is alpha.comm.utoronto.ca, waves group samba/printer server is emserver.waves.utoronto.ca, control group samba/printer server is alfheim.control.utoronto.ca and EECG group's is flames.eecg.toronto.edu

1.click My Computer from your windows XP desktop

2. Click Tools and then select "Map Network Drive ..."

3. Choose whatever drive number you like and input \\SERVER\homes, where SERVER is alpha.comm.utoronto.ca for comm group users , emserver.waves.utoronto.ca for waves group users and alfheim.control.utoronto.ca for control group users and flames.eecg.toronto.edu for EECG group users 4. Enable "Reconnect at logon" 5. Then click Finish to continue, input your samba username and password if required .
