About Me

I am presently a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Vector Institute, working with Prof. Daniel Roy. I finished my Ph.D. at the University of Toronto where I was very fortunate to be advised by Prof. Ben Liang and Prof. Min Dong.  

My general research interests cover the areas of Machine Learning, Optimization, and Internet of Things. My Ph.D. research is focused on developing theory and practices for next generation large-scale distributed and heterogeneous networks. I am currently working in the area of machine learning. In particular, I am developing communication-efficient variants of stochastic gradient descent to train very large and complex models with large datasets in a distributed manner. In addition, I am studying the generalization error and convergence of accelerated stochastic gradient descent.
