Options to Run MatlabThree options are available for you to run Matlab and get your work done:a) run on your own machine or online; b) run remotely on a machine of the ECF pool; and c) run remotely on an ECE machine. Option c applies particularly for courses using the BA3128 and BA3114 labs. If you are taking ECE470 (Robotics), you should connect via BA3114 (Option c). Details on a) are courtesy of Jim Prall. a) Run Matlab on your own machine and/or onlineAs a UofT student, you can obtain one student license for Matlab for the duration of your studies. This license allows Matlab to run independent on your computer, without the need of a license server (or an internet connection after it is installed). This is the *full version* of Matlab, so it is a great deal. You can access the TAH Portal for information. Link to TAH Portal. b) Run Matlab through ECFYou need valid ECF credentials to use this option. You can log in here. If you don't have or remember your credentials, the links found on the page will take you to the place where you can request credentials. Once you log in, first select "Windows Remote Desktop" on the top menu. Then at the bottom you can select to be connected to the ECF pool of machines using the first icon on the left, which reads "Any ECF Lab". This option connects you to one of 290 machines available. These are regular Windows machines. These machines offer a wide number of software for you to use, which includes Matlab. The remote operation will have the look and feel of a Windows 10 desktop. c) Run Matlab on ECE (BA3114)Using the same interface and your ECF credentials, and choosing the same "Windows Remote Desktop" option on the top menu, can then select to connect to a machine specifically located in BA3114 -- the ECE Systems Control and Robotics Lab -- or in BA3128 -- ECE Drop-In Lab. These also run Windows, so they will appear to you as a regular Windows 10 desktop. |
