Viacheslav Burenkov was born and raised in Voronezh , Russia before coming to Cardiff , UK . He received his M. Sci. in Physics from Imperial College London in 2007. During this time, he completed a summer internship at CERN. After graduating (First Class Honours) he spent the summer driving around Eastern Europe , before moving to Toronto , Canada .
He is currently doing a Ph. D. at the University of Toronto under the supervision of Prof. Hoi-Kwong Lo. His research is focused on the security of practical high-speed quantum cryptography.
Viacheslav is friendly, easy going and open-minded. In his spare time, he enjoys travelling, having a drink, reading, and playing soccer.
