EDUCATION

¨        1996 – 2001,  Hon.B.Sc. (Physics Specialist and Math Major) @ the University of Toronto.  I specialized in the area of Experimental Optics.  For my Undergraduate Research Project I carried out research on a <10 femtosecond pulse laser system in conjunction with a transient-grating frequency resolved optical gating system, diffractive optics and a deformable mirror for the purpose of further pulse optimisation/compression.

WORK EXPERIENCE

¨        Sept ’01 – June ’03,  Researcher/Tech in the ATLAS (A Toroidal LHC Apparatus) LAB within the Physics Department @ UofT.  I helped build two 4.4 tonne calorimeters which were going in the ATLAS detector for the large hadron collider being built at CERN in Geneva, Swit.

¨        June ‘03 – Nov ’03,  Research Assistant with the Geomechanical Group of the Civ. Eng. Department @ UofT.  Assisted in designing and building experiments dealing with shockwaves and their effects on various rock types.

¨        Oct ’03 – Dec ’03,  Research Assistant with the Ultra Cold Atoms/BEC Group within the Physics Department @ UofT.  Was in charge of the computer/hardware interfacing with all of the equipment on the optics table needed to create a BEC.

¨        Jan ’04 – Present,  Research Assistant with the Quantum Information Group within the Elec. Eng. Department @ UofT.  In charge of all aspects of setting up the lab, equipment and experiments.  Am currently setting up QKD and Quantum Encryption optical experiments.
