The laboratory experiments are designed to give students a hands-on feel for the material covered in lecture and tutorials. Most of the work involves simulations written in MATLAB. Note that the material covered in the labs is fair game on quizzes, midterms and the final exam.
Each student is expected to complete four labs. The labs can be completed in the assigned rooms, where teaching assistants will be available to answer questions. Alternatively, the labs can be completed at home if you have the necessary software tools.
Labs can be completed in groups, as long as they consist of no more than two students. Groups of three are not permitted.
The lab mark is based on a lab report. Each group may submit a single report. Each lab is worth 5% of the term mark. Late penalty is 1% per 24 hours.
TAs will be specifically informed to follow a zero-tolerance policy for reports that are plagiarised. Students guilty of plagiarism will be given a mark of zero and reported to the undergraduate office.
Students are expected to have basic
knowledge of
MATLAB. To refresh your memory, please read MATLAB
tutorial or MATLAB Primer
